Let us help you tell your stories.
Every organization has stories worth keeping. Most of them disappear.
Not because no one cares. Because no one had the time, or the tools, or the right person in the room to capture them before they were gone.
DFF Productions was built on the belief that stories are the most underused strategic asset most organizations have. We help non-profits, faith communities, and mission-driven organizations tell their stories — in two distinct, practical ways.
The story that only you can tell — told the way it deserves to be.
Some stories are too important to leave to a clip reel. The founding of your organization. The person whose life changed because of your work. The turning point that no one outside your community knows about. These are the stories that explain why you exist.
The Story Project is our bespoke documentary service for non-profits and mission-driven organizations. We come to you. We listen first. Then we build a documentary in whatever format the story requires — five minutes or fifty, a single piece or a series — that captures the truth of who you are in a form you can use for decades.
Embedded in every Story Project is our media in the message process. We do not just produce your film and hand it over. We walk alongside your team through every stage — discovery, production, and distribution — sharing what we learn as we go. By the end, your organization understands not just what was made, but why every decision was made. You leave the process with a finished documentary and the capacity to think more clearly about every story you tell from that point forward.
Not a promotional video. Not a highlight reel. A real story, told well, that earns the attention it receives.
A note on who we work with: We do not do corporate work. We do not do weddings. We tell the real stories of people and organizations that bend toward justice. If that is you, we want to talk.
What you get:
• A collaborative discovery process to identify the story worth telling
• Professional production — interview, footage, and post-production — handled by our team
• A finished documentary suitable for public screening, fundraising events, grant applications, and digital distribution
• A story asset that does not expire
DFF Productions has been telling stories for over thirty years. Our documentary work has taken us from underground music scenes to the front lines of community advocacy to the most intimate moments people allow a camera to witness. We know how to earn access. We know how to listen. We know how to make something true.
We are not a production house that learned to work with non-profits. We are storytellers whose careers were built in the rooms where it matters most: emergency rooms, police departments, palliative wards, community halls, and courtrooms. We understand mission-driven work because we have lived it.
We work exclusively with people and organizations that bend toward social justice. Not corporate communications. Not weddings. Not branded content for companies that need a warmer image. We are not the right fit for that work, and we do not pretend to be. We are the right fit for the organization that has a story worth telling and has not yet found the right people to help them tell it.
We also understand your constraints. Budget. Bandwidth. The fact that your board chair is a volunteer and your communications staff is a single exhausted person. We build our process around your reality, not the other way around. And we work in whatever format serves the story — a single clip, a recurring series, a short film, a feature-length documentary. The length is always determined by what the story needs.
Our work with West Hill United Church is proof of concept. The results are real. The process is repeatable. And we are ready to bring it to you.
Ready to start the conversation?
We do not start with a proposal. We start with a conversation. Tell us what you are trying to say, who you are trying to reach, and what has gotten in the way so far. We will tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.
